The self-storage division of the Wentworth Property Company purchased 11.08 acres in North Scottsdale, according to a recent announcement.
The land is east of the Loop 101 Freeway near Bell Road and 91st Street and will be the site of an upcoming 120,000-square-foot self-storage facility, called Pima 101.
The Arizona developer and its development partner, Crow Holdings, procured the land for $4.35 million from SWVP DC Ranch LLC. The land is located at 17492 N. 91st St., Scottsdale, Ariz.
“The Pima 101 self-storage project provides us with an opportunity to develop a first class storage facility in North Scottsdale to service the surrounding residential population in DC and McDowell Mountain Ranch, Ironwood Village, Grayhawk and Pinnacle Peak,” according to Dave King, vice president of Self Storage for Wentworth Storage Company, Wentworth’s self-storage division. “There is roughly a population of 140,000 within five miles of the site and limited storage options in the area. The site will have visibility from the 101 Freeway which carries approximately 100,000 cars per day.”
Wentworth has been actively seeking self-storage opportunities. The property company has purchased existing facilities and is utilizing ground-up development sites, such as this land purchase.
Last year, Wentworth closed on over $160 million worth of self-storage properties and has 1.3 million net rentable square feet of self-storage property.
Wentworth Storage Company plans to start construction on a two-story, indoor, climate controlled self-storage facility at its recently purchased land parcel in North Scottsdale.
Construction will start during the second quarter of this year with completion and opening by first quarter 2018. Arizona-based Andrews Design Group Inc. is the architect for Pima 101.
